Content and commerce experiment brief
Design a comparison of AI-assisted content production that accounts for audience assignment, contribution, costs and uncertainty.
Workbooks, evaluation records and exercises for a business team to use. Examples are labelled; methods are distinct from measured results.
An AI proposal can reach a management meeting with a polished demonstration and several questions still unanswered. What work will it replace? How much checking remains? Who will deal with a failed integration? What has to be true before the business commits more money?
The guides in this collection help make those questions concrete. The companion resource library supplies an editable workbook, case fixtures, registers and decision records you can use with colleagues. These are worked methods and illustrative templates; their usefulness in your operation needs testing. Start with the decision in front of you and complete the relevant resource using information from the people who own the work.
| Your situation | Guide and resource | Output to take into the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Several teams want AI investment, but priorities are unclear | Workflow selection and discovery pack | A bounded process, reconciled baseline and next uncertainty to test |
| A supplier promises savings | Full-cost guide and editable workbook | Separate capacity and cash cases, with downside and transition timing |
| A demonstration needs a release decision | Release evidence and release pack | Authorised scope, operating limits and recovery evidence |
| A useful pilot has no route into everyday work | Pilot-to-operation guide and operating pack | Funded ownership, trained cover and a handover record |
| You want to compare reconciliation approaches | Evaluation guide and case/log pack | A registered experiment with case and batch-level checks |
| A working process is entering another country | Regional guide and rollout workbook | A per-entity evidence packet and scoped decision |
A team may need several resources over the life of a project. Completing the workflow assessment before the cost model makes the financial assumptions more useful. Defining release evidence before commissioning development makes the delivery brief more precise.
Some decisions need more domain detail than a general AI worksheet can provide.
The digital-asset operations guide follows the transaction through systems, books and responsibilities. Its exception tabletop supplies timed fictional records and a facilitator key for testing how the team handles an uncertain transfer response.
The content and commerce guide connects production choices to commercial outcomes. Its experiment brief records assignment, denominators, costs, uncertainty and stopping rules before results arrive.
The ESG evidence guide connects a reported figure to sources, transformations and review. The evidence register includes a CSV template and fictional examples of missing factors, unsuitable supplier boundaries and corrected records.
Each specialist guide has a defined purpose. A reconciliation map does not determine the legal status of an asset. An evidence register does not by itself establish that a disclosure satisfies every applicable requirement. Use the resource to identify the decisions and expertise your particular engagement needs.
The AI investment memo brings a single proposal together: the problem, alternatives, costs, evidence, delivery responsibilities and requested decision. It gives finance, technology and the business sponsor a common document to examine.
Use the copyable decision records to compare credible options on one basis and record the next bounded commitment.
For a broader planning discussion, use Funding AI in 2027. That guide addresses the portfolio: what to maintain, improve, expand, investigate or stop, and how to allocate scarce delivery capacity across those choices.
The distinction matters in a management meeting. A technically credible project can still be a poor use of the next quarter's people and budget if another priority has stronger evidence or more urgent dependencies. The portfolio discussion makes that trade-off explicit.
Choose one live proposal. Ask the business owner, someone who performs the work, a technology representative and the relevant control owner to prepare the following information. One person may cover more than one role.
| Question | What to record |
|---|---|
| Which decision are we making? | A specific approval, comparison, release or funding choice |
| What do we know today? | Current volumes, effort, quality and the evidence behind them |
| What remains an assumption? | A named uncertainty and why it affects the decision |
| Which resource will help? | One guide from this collection and the section to complete |
| Who will resolve the missing information? | An owner, next action and review date |
Finish with a recorded decision or a clearly defined evidence-gathering task. If nobody can explain how the proposed result would change the decision, narrow the task before spending more time on it.
The quarterly reviews explain the wider developments behind these operating questions: Q1's investment and deployment choices, Q2's commercial and operating commitments, and Q3 through 28 September, covering growth, cost scrutiny and accountability.
Use that context to inform the discussion. Use evidence from your own workflow to make the decision. The next practical step is to choose one row in the starting-point table and put the corresponding worksheet in front of the people who can supply the missing facts.
